SURYA WORLD, Institutions of Academic Excellence, has been established under the aegis of Surya Educational & Charitable Trust (SECT) - an initiative by Surya Pharmaceutical Limited - in 2009. These institutes of higher education are approved by AICTE, COA, Government of Punjab and affiliated to Punjab Technical University (PTU) & have successfully completed one academic session. Surya World offers an integrated curriculum that is designed towards delivering quality tertiary education in Engineering & Technology, Management & Business Studies, Computer Sciences, Pharmacy, Architecture, and Hotel Management & Catering Technology.
Objective
The very objective of organizing the chess championship is to promote the game among students. Apart from classroom learning the student needs to develop the overall personality. As a professional one needs focused attention to job, deep thinking and long planning ahead to meet short term and long term objectives. The game of chess demands a thinker, a planner and a focused player who can foresee the hurdles and develop solutions to these, unlocking the powers of mind.
India has produced world class players and proved its dominance of brain power. This tournament is an effort in the direction to promote this elegant game to grassroots and create opportunities for young brains to exploit their brain power. Don’t miss the opportunity many players are expected to participate in the championship.

Venue : Surya School of Engg. & Technology, Bapror, NH-I, Near Shambhu Toll Plaza, Rajpura (Punjab) (fully air conditioned venue)
Entry Fee : Rs.500/- per player. Entries will be accepted at the Venue from 9:00 am to 11:30 am on 30th October 2010

Boarding & Lodging
Free accommodation will be provided Separate for Boys & Girls to all the outstation players. Tea & lunch will also be served free of cost to all the players. Breakfast & Dinner will be provided to the players on payment of nominal charges of Rs.30/- per meal.
Rules & Regulations
1. All North region players are eligible to participate.
2. FIDE (World Chess Federation) Rules shall apply.
3. Chess players are required to bring their own Chess Sets and Chess Clocks
4. There will be no separate tournament for female participants. However, prizes to the best 3 girls will also be given prizes separately.
5. Chief Arbiter’s decision will be final and conclusive in case of any dispute.
6. Players should not leave the tournament venue till the Prize Distribution function is over. Participation certificates will be given to all the participants after the function.
7. Age proof certificate must be submitted by all players.
8. Free Tea & lunch will be provided to all players.
9. Misconduct by the players will be strictly penalized.
10. Organizers reserve the right to accept or reject any entry without assigning any reason.
11. Players/schools are requested to mention their e-mail ids for future communication.
